The posterior cruciate ligament is generally presents on the knee. It is the strongest ligament and it comes from the upper portion of the tibia to the lower portion of the femur. This ligament is essential to protect the knee from any injuries. The posterior cruciate ligament is shortly referred as PCL. The PCL gets damaged easily due to the hyperextension. The posterior cruciate ligament injury is the condition in which the PCL is in damaged state. The doctor’s diagnose the condition through physical examination and also with the help of the tests such as knee x-rays and knee MRI. The symptoms of this condition are swollen condition at the knees, knee pain and the instability situation occurs at the knee. Applying ice pack is the best first aid for this condition.
